Buckle up. It's gonna be a long post.

Good morning everyone,

As Kyle posted with the cancellation of the December One-Shot we are going to have online mods. We are going to use Discord for this. We now have a dice roll bot on discord now. It’s currently disabled for the out of play channels for the time being. Time to answer the questions brewing in everyone’s mind. The who, what, when, where, and how? If you’re asking yourself why well for fun is the answer to that. Anyway. Let’s start with who.

Who can participate? We will be doing group sessions for groups of six. Due to time restrictions each person can only participate in one session. Each person participating must have a SOLAR character on Mylarp.

When is this happening? We will be doing a session this Wednesday from 8pm to 11pm CST. A single person from a group of six will need to send an email to cerroneth@gmail.com with each person’s real name, character name, discord name, and skill each person is wanting to learn (Read What? Section). After that we will be doing two sessions on Sunday the 13, planning to start around 3pm CST. Each mod is 3 hours long. Be on time. Another session will be on Tuesday, December 15, 7-10pm CST.

Where? As I stated, discord. https://discord.gg/gd98dwV8. That discord. I have set up specific voice and text chats that we will be using for these mods.

What? So, there’s a lot that can go into this, so I’ll try to keep it short. The premise of the story is that when the former Headmaster was defeated the heroes there woke up in their reality. Many thought with his defeat, as he was the creator of that reality, the Time Traveler’s Academy would cease to exist. But there were those that still remained in that world. The Academy and world are crumbling away with those who wish for it to stay. The Head groundskeeper is wishing to rebuild the Academy once more into a place where those who seek knowledge can learn. Adventures, heroes, knowledge-seekers, whatever you wish to call yourself, can aid in rebuilding this beloved world. Careful though, there are those who wish for the old Headmaster to return in hopes they can receive some of his power.

The group of six heroes must complete a quest to aid in rebuilding the Time Traveler’s Academy. The quest is based on what skill each person’s character is wanting to learn. We have a set list of skills that can be learned. If a character is unable to learn the desired skill due to prerequisites not being met, a voucher will be given so it can be learned at a later time. The further away from obtaining the prerequisites the difficulty to complete the task will increase. IE someone with one level of Alchemy trying to go for Master Alchemy may fail more than succeed. We’ve broken the skill sets into six different categories.

Production – Master Alchemy, Master Poisoner, Master Scroll Maker, and Master Potion Maker, Alchemy, Create Poison, Create Potions, and Create Scroll.

Lore, Combat + Knowledge – Monster Town Monster themed combat lores with knowledge lores because that’s the prerequisite for them.

Subterfuge - Espionage (Must pick one of the five out of the rulebook), Disarm Trap, Pick Lock, Tracking.

Trade Skills – Armorsmithing, Jewelcrafting, Evaluate Item, Master Armorsmith, Master Weaponsmith, Master Jeweler

Survival Skills – Survival, Craftskill Cooking, Master Chef

BarCamp – Battlefield Commander, Horsemanship, Leadership (Must be a Baron), Seamanship, Siege Engineering.

So at this point a quick recap of what’s needed. A group of six people decide which day they want to do this. One person sends an email with everyone name, character, discord name (so I can add people to channels), and skill each person wants. From the list of skills, we will create the adventure. Kyle and I have come up with simple concept of tasks for each skill so we can take these and mold them into an adventure tailored to the group.

How do? I’m glad you asked and stuck through this post. We are using a D10 system that involves rolling to obtain a target number. Some tasks require only one success while others require multiple success. The default target number is 7. Example: Theo the alchemist is working to become a master alchemist. He already has 20 levels of alchemy. He is tasked with preparing Mercury Powder to help restock the lab at the academy. Being a skilled alchemist, he would roll 4d10 and would only need to get one success. Eli who is not as skilled, only have 10 levels of alchemy would only get 2d10 but still only needs to get one success. Certain tasks may increase the required number of successes, the target number, or both. But this is not all dice rolling. I will be streaming in that channel for some puzzle tasks. Combat will be dice rolling but do not expect too much combat. Weapon prof, backstabs, and strength skill grant 1d10 each. Spell casting works like this. Having one 9th and down in a column grants 2d10 for a spell in that column. Smaller columns only get 1d10 to cast a spell. For larger column its 2d10 + 1d10 for each 9th after the first. A four-wide column (able to cast four 9th level spells) will be able to use 5d10 for a spell in that column. Having multiple columns do not stack. Spells only require one success to hit. Spells and abilities will not need to be chosen beforehand. We are going with a choose on the fly system as long as the character has access to it.

As we have said before each person will be playing their character for this. Your character will only have what is available in Mylarp. Anything on an index card does not work for these mods. The means no armor, weapons, magic items, that one mundane thing you always carry but never use but could totally help right now, magic abilities, formal scrolls, components, crafting recipes, or even their teddy bear. All the character gets is the clothes on their back and skills they have already acquired over the years.

Disclaimer time. In order to gain the new skill, the entire group’s quest must be completed within the allotted three-hour window. Sessions will not carry over to another session. Failure to complete all tasks will result in no skills awarded. Completing tasks an hour early will grant the reward of 25 gold voucher given to each person within the group. Voucher will be placed in that character’s standard tags envelope for the next time we have an event.

TLDR: Find a group. Have a group member send in an email of what each person wants to get for their characters and when everyone can be on. Get on discord. Complete the quest. Learn a new skill. Huzzah.
